• Seminar: "The Depoliticisation of Greece’s Public Revenue Administration" (24/10/2017)

    The seminar, which took place at the LSE’s European Institute, examined the reform of the Greek public revenue administration through its 'depoliticisation', i.e. by placing it 'at arm’s length' and thus increasing its autonomy from government ministers at the operational and organisational levels, as a direct consequence of the bailout programmes.

    Presentations were held by Dionyssis Dimitrakopoulos (Senior Lecturer in Politics at Birkbeck College, University of London) and Argyris Passas (Associate Professor of State Administration and European Integration, Jean Monnet Chair "Public Administration and European Integration".

  • Event: "The Greek law order, 60 years after the Treaty of Rome" (29/7/2017)

    On 29 July 2017 the Hellenic University Association for European Studies (ECSA-Greece) organized the event "The Greek law order, 60 years after the Treaty of Rome", in collaboration with the Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands. The discussion took place at the Central Auditorium of the Institute in the island of Zakynthos.

    Associate Professor Mr. Passas participated in the discussion, giving a lecture on "The Law-making process in the EU and the uncertain adjustment of Greece".

  • Workshop: "Administrative reform in Greece in the era of crisis. The paradigm of tax administration" (5/4/2017)

    On April 5 2017 Jean Monnet Chair "Public Administration & European Integration" and the Centre for Policy and Institutional Analysis (Department of International, European and Area Studies, Panteion University) organized a roundtable discussion entitled "Administrative reform in Greece in the era of crisis.   • 4th Conference of the Hellenic University Association for European Studies (ECSA-Greece): "Greece and Europe during the economic crisis"(31/3-1/4/2017)

    The 4th Conference of the Hellenic University Association for European Studies (ECSA-Greece) “Greece and Europe during the economic crisis” was held in Central Athens (“Kostis Palamas” Building) on the 31st of March and the 1st of April 2017. The event was organized under the auspices of the action "Reconnecting Europe to Greece" (RECONEU), which is co-funded by the Programme Erasmus+ ("Jean Monnet Support to Institutions and Associations").

    The event aimed to facilitate the exchange of opinions and ideas with respect to the wider political, economic and social issues which are of interest to Greece and Europe at the era of economic crisis. Associate Professor and Holder of the Jean Monnet Chair "Public Administration and European Integration" Mr. A. Passas participated in the event.

  • Open Discussion: "Is there a future for the EU? BREXIT and the Perspective of Democratic Europe" (29-30/7/2016)

    An open discussion entitled "Is there a future for the EU? BREXIT and the Perspective of Democratic Europe" was held at the Cultural Center of Lefkada on 29-30 July 2016.

    The meeting was organized by the Hellenic University Association for European Studies (ECSA-Greece), under the Action "Reconnecting Europe to Greece" (RECONEU), which is co-funded by the Program Erasmus+ ("Jean Monnet Support to Institutions and Associations").

    This event brought together experts in the field of European governance, who discussed the various challenges facing European integration and the future of democracy in Europe. The conversation focused on the repercussions of the BREXIT vote in the referendum of 23 June 2016.

    The participants of the discussion were:

  • 6th Conference of Administrative Scientists: "Challenges and Difficulties in the Process of Modernizing the Greek Public Administration, Today" (15-17/10/2015)

    The 6th Conference of Administrative Scientists "Challenges and Difficulties in the Process of Modernizing the Greek Public Administration, Today" was held at the Technological Educational Institute of Peloponnese in Kalamata on 15-17 October 2015.

    The Conference was organized by the Administrative Sciences Unit (Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), the Department of Business Administration (TEI of Peloponnese), the Department of Economics (University of Peloponnese), the Jean Monnet Chair "Public Administration & European Integration", the Centre for Institutional and Policy Analysis (Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences) and the Greek Institute of Administrative Sciences.

    The key topics discussed at the Conference were:

    • The modification of the constitutional framework of Public Administration
    • Historical experience, "path dependency", paradigm shift
    • Administrative convergence and Europeanization

  • Seminar: "Challenges for European Integration: Is there a prospect for a Social Europe?" (9-11/1/2015)

    The Hellenic University Association for European Studies (ECSA-Greece) under the Action "Reconnecting Europe to Greece" (RECONEU), which was co-funded by the Program Erasmus+ ("Jean Monnet Support to Institutions and Associations") organized a seminar on "Challenges for the European Integration: Is there a prospect for a Social Europe?". The event was held in collaboration with the Municipality of Larissa and the Larissa Bar Association, in the Hall of the Larissa Bar Association.

    The main aim of the seminar was to give participants basic knowledge of the institutions and the functioning of the European Union, the rights and obligations arising from being a 'European citizen', and practical information on the programs that are co-funded by the European Union and are aimed at local and regional development as well as at the improvement of the quality of life of European citizens.
